How’s everyone doing? Things are going great and I love everything more and more. It’s also been a great week.

Title: Ok. So my title is Elder Brinkerhoff 2.0 because my new companion looks just like him. Elder Brinkerhoff was my second companion in Vegas and left a transfer after I left. But, Elder McNeeley reminds me so much of him and it’s kind of weird because I feel like I’m companions with Elder Brinkerhoff again. I’ll attach a picture later. There are a few differences, but I feel like they are pretty similar.
New responsibilities: As sad as I was to leave QRC, I really love help services. I am usually busy helping people and interacting with others. I usually help people set up accounts and get their family tree started. I get to talk to them and find out more about them and make them feel welcomed. For those who really know me, you know I’m a super social person and this new zone is much better. I actually get to talk to people and interact with others. I really love it. I’ve met a lot of people from around the country and most of them aren’t members of the church.
Highlights of the week: I guess I will start listing off highlights of the week, if I can think of

1. Being in an apartment with Elder Royal and Elder Walton is really fun because they are both super funny and awesome and we all get along really well.
2. One of our classes Thursday was about security and it was actually fun. There are about 5 or 6 homeless people around Temple Square that security and everyone knows by name. The security missionary who gave the class talked about every homeless person and told us which ones are nice and good to talk to and then which ones to absolutely stay away from. Most of them are fine to talk to and say hi, but there’s two of them who will yell at you if you don’t give them something or if you try talking to them. We are told not to give food or money because most of them are panhandlers and there’s better way to help the homeless, but we are to still be friendly. I’ll talk about the ones I can remember. I’ll change the names of the negative ones to prevent any bad talking.
A. Johnny- if you’re ever in the area, say hi to Johnny. He has a walker and breathing tubes and is super nice. He will always say hi to the elders and ask us how our day is going. He sits in between the JSMB and the admin building at the crosswalk to City creek. He doesn’t get mad if you don’t give him food or money and always wishes you a good day. We saw him on Thursday and one of the elders mentioned my birthday so he wished me a happy birthday. He is always fun to talk to.
B. Miles (Dwayne) - he’s cool too. He will sit and say hi to you and sits at the north visitor’s center gate. He always says hi to the elders too and once again loves interacting with us.
C. Sally (name changed) - she’s crazy. She’s nice, but makes her rounds around Salt Lake City to get stuff. Then once in a while she will have a dog with her. I usually smile at her and wave and she seems to be nice.
D. The couple- I forget their names, but security told us they have some sort of disease and we are not to touch them. I’ve heard they’re nice, but I’ve never seen them.
E. Tom (name changed) – we are told to never talk to him. He’s bald and always has a backpack with him. He always has run ins with people and will yell at you. We had a senior missionary go out and talk to him one time and all he did was yell vulgar words at the missionary. And he will yell at people who don’t give him food or money.
Most of the homeless people around the area are really nice, but we just have to be careful about the few. It’s interesting serving “on temple square” because you get to know people and all the secrets. I’ve heard about elders who are friends with some of the security and then of course some elders are friends with the sisters. I hope to be able to make some friends with security and the sisters because they all seem really awesome. Plus, I miss proselyting where I made friends with the sisters. I think that’s the only downside to this mission. I’ve gotten use to everything and started to love the mission, but I miss having sisters in the mission. I created some good lasting friendships in Vegas with the elders and sisters, which I definitely miss. But, like I was saying, it’s different being in a mission where you are at the church headquarters and get more crazy people and have to be careful with everything.
Thanks again for all your love, support, and prayers. I truly do appreciate the birthday wishes and it made my day. I can’t wait for next year’s birthday, but until then I have to focus on my missionary purpose and what I’m doing here. Every single person reading this email is awesome and I love you all. Thanks for being a friend and supporting me through everything. Continue sending me letters and emails. It’s good to hear from everyone.
Aloha
